WoodLtd manufactures custom garage doors in teak and taengwood with carving. We make our doors in any size, thickness and design and we specialize in swing and sliding doors. We build also garage overhead doors however:

● our geographical location doesn't require door garage
● there is no market for such doors in tropics and South-East Asia
● no hardware, no motor, no auto overhead openers available locally

For the above reasons we supply horizontal door panels in size, thickness, design and carving to customer's specifications. When requested we'll build the door frame and carved casing. All our doors are made in 100% solid Burmese teak, no veneers. Manufacturing and carving of one garage door takes from 3-4 months, shipping to US/Europe is additional 6-7 weeks. For each project we take we'll require:

(1) high resolution photos in size 2,000 X 2,000 pixels
(2) detail door specifications
(3) professional blueprints (no hand sketches, no hand writing please)

History It is difficult today to envision a world without garages or a language without the word garage. However, the word probably did not exist before the 19th century and certainly not before the 18th; possibly the thing itself did not exist before the end of the 19th century. Our word is a direct borrowing of French garage, which is first recorded in 1802 in the sense "place where one docks." The verb garer, from which garage was derived, originally meant "to put merchandise under shelter," then "to moor a boat," and then "to put a vehicle into a place for safekeeping," that is, a garage, a sense first recorded in French in 1901. English almost immediately borrowed this French word, the first instance being found in 1902.

Car Garage: a residential garage is a building or part of a home either designed or used for storing a vehicle or vehicles. In some places the term is used synonymously with "carport", though many use that term to describe a structure that is not completely enclosed. Increasingly, the term "car hole" is also being used as a synonym for garage. In most American single family and town houses featuring a garage, the garage has a door on the front of the building for vehicles to enter and exit. Most garage doors open upward using an electric chain drive (garage door opener), which can usually be remotely controlled from the resident's car with a small radio transmitter. Garages are connected to the nearest road with a driveway. Interior space for one or two cars is typical, and garages built since the 1950s typically have a door directly connecting the garage to the interior of the house (an "attached garage"). In the past, garages were often separate buildings from the house, almost resembling modern sheds. On occasion, a garage would be built with an apartment above it, which could be rented out. As automobiles became more popular, and convenience essential, the idea of attaching the garage directly to the house grew into a common practice. While a person with a separate garage must walk outdoors in any type of weather, a person with an attached garage has a much shorter walk inside a building. Garages are often where the attic entrance is located. Used also to store tools, bicycles, lawn mowers and other such items, most garages have unfinished concrete floors. Since they are heavily used for storage, and as work space for home improvement projects, garages sometimes can't be used to protect the automobiles they were designed for. Many two-car garages only have one usable space. Some garages contain separate a storage room to partially alleviate the problem.
